For Models

What should I eat before an underwater modeling shoot?

Eat a light, balanced meal roughly two hours before call time, focusing on complex carbohydrates, lean protein, and easily digested vegetables. Good examples include oatmeal with banana and almond butter, scrambled eggs with whole-grain toast, or a small bowl of rice with grilled chicken and avocado.

Avoid heavy, greasy, or extremely high-fiber meals that can leave you feeling sluggish, bloated, or uncomfortable while holding your breath. Limit caffeine in the hours before the shoot, because caffeine elevates heart rate and shortens comfortable breath holds. Hydrate steadily throughout the day before, but ease off heavy fluid intake about thirty minutes before entering the water to avoid constant bathroom breaks.

Pack easy on-set snacks such as bananas, granola bars, dried fruit, and electrolyte drinks to maintain steady blood sugar between dives. Alcohol the evening before should be limited or skipped entirely, since even mild dehydration impacts breath comfort and skin appearance. Listen to your body — every model has unique digestion and energy patterns, and refining your personal pre-shoot routine over a few sessions will pay off enormously.
