For Clients
Is underwater photography safe?
Safety is, without question, our absolute top priority on every single shoot we conduct. Kimber, the founder and lead photographer, holds active certifications as a Registered Nurse, in CPR, Basic Life Support, and Emergency Freediving Medicine, which means she is trained to recognize and respond to a wide range of medical situations in and around the water. Every underwater shoot is staffed with at least one dedicated safety swimmer for every subject in the water, and each session begins with a comprehensive pre-shoot safety briefing covering breath-hold techniques, hand signals, and exit procedures.
We operate under a strict golden rule: anyone can call any shoot to a halt at any time for any reason, no questions asked and no pressure to continue. Additionally, we never put a client in the water alone, we always maintain clear sightlines, and we carefully control depth, temperature, and visibility to ensure the safest possible environment. A fully stocked emergency response kit, including oxygen, an AED, and a comprehensive first-aid station, is on-site at every shoot, whether in our studio or on location.
We also screen every client during the consultation phase for any medical conditions that might require additional precautions, and we coordinate with your healthcare provider when relevant. Our entire team is trained in shallow-water blackout recognition, water rescue protocols, and clear in-water communication, so help is always seconds away if needed. The thousands of safe sessions we have conducted over more than a decade reflect a culture in which safety is never sacrificed for the perfect shot.
