For Clients
Do I need to know how to swim for an underwater photoshoot?
Absolutely not. Some of our most celebrated and award-winning underwater portraits have been created with clients who could not swim at all. We deliberately work in shallow water where you can comfortably stand at any time, we keep a floatation device within easy reach, and we assign at least one trained safety swimmer to every single person who enters the water.
Before any shooting begins, we conduct a thorough safety briefing, practice breath-holds at the surface, and demonstrate exactly what to do if you ever want to pause or stop. We always start at a slow, comfortable pace and only progress to deeper water or more complex poses when you feel completely ready. Many of our non-swimmer clients arrive feeling nervous and leave describing the session as one of the most empowering experiences of their lives.
We use weighted props or gentle hand-holding from a submerged safety swimmer to help you stay calm and grounded if floating feels disorienting. Our heated studio pool also allows us to control depth precisely, so we can begin in waist-deep water and only go as deep as your confidence grows. Whether you are a complete beginner, recovering from a water-related fear, or simply prefer to keep your feet on the bottom, we will design a shoot day that honors exactly where you are.
