For Clients
How do you handle hair and makeup for an underwater photoshoot?
We collaborate with experienced hair and makeup artists who specialize in creating water-resistant looks that photograph beautifully when wet. Rather than caking on heavy waterproof foundation, which can look mask-like in high-resolution images, our artists use a layered approach with lightweight, long-wear products that are specifically designed for aquatic environments. They focus on defining the eyes, adding luminous skin highlights, and creating a polished look that holds up through multiple dives and water exposure.
For clients with sensitive skin or product allergies, you are absolutely welcome to bring your own trusted products, and our artists will work with what you provide. Hair is typically styled to look elegant when wet or is designed to flow freely for that ethereal underwater aesthetic. Hair and makeup are included with our full-experience packages and can be added to any session a la carte.
Brands like MAC Pro Longwear, Make Up For Ever Aqua, and Inglot AMC Eyeliner Gel are studio favorites because they hold pigment beautifully through hours of submersion. Lashes are typically applied as individual clusters rather than full strips, because individual lashes hold up far better in water and look more natural in close-up portraits. Our artists also touch up your look between every set, ensuring your makeup remains consistent and luminous from the first frame to the last. The goal is always a wearable, photographable look that feels like the best version of you rather than a costume.
