Can I wear makeup for my underwater photoshoot?
Yes, and we strongly recommend professional makeup for every underwater session because correctly chosen products dramatically elevate the final imagery. Our makeup artists specialize in long-wearing, water-resistant formulations including MAC Pro Longwear foundation, sealed brow gels, waterproof gel liners, and waterproof mascaras designed for swimmers and synchronized athletes.
Lips are typically stained rather than glossed, since glosses dissolve almost instantly underwater. We avoid heavy powders that turn chalky when wet and instead use cream products that fuse with the skin and stay vivid under water. If you bring your own makeup, please pack only waterproof or sweatproof formulations and avoid shimmer eyeshadows, which tend to streak as they wash off.
Our in-house artists understand exactly how each color shifts underwater under different light sources, which is a specialty land-based makeup artists almost never have. Touch-ups between dives are quick because the foundation and eye products are engineered to survive multiple submersions. The result is a polished, editorial look that holds beautifully from the first frame to the last.
