For Clients
Can I bring props or pets to my underwater shoot?
Custom props, water-safe florals, fabrics, and themed items are not only welcome but actively encouraged, and some of our most memorable images have come from creative prop ideas brought by our clients. During your pre-shoot consultation, we will discuss the props you have in mind, test how they behave in water, and plan the lighting and composition around them to ensure they enhance rather than distract from your portraits. When it comes to pets, we consider requests on a case-by-case basis, prioritizing the animal's safety and comfort above all else.
We do not photograph live animals fully submerged in water under any circumstances, but we are happy to include your pets in above-water or shallow-water portraits where they can remain safe and comfortable. If you have a specific prop or pet concept, let us know early in the planning process so we can design the safest and most beautiful approach. Popular prop ideas include flowing fabrics, oversized florals, vintage chairs, framed mirrors, books, musical instruments, and meaningful family heirlooms.
Anything wooden, paper-based, or fragile must be carefully evaluated, as prolonged submersion can damage or destroy these items beyond repair. We also maintain a collection of studio props including silks, mermaid tails, glass globes, and themed pieces that you are welcome to use at no additional charge. For meaningful tribute portraits, many clients have brought a parent's wedding ring, a grandparent's scarf, or a child's first stuffed animal to incorporate into the imagery in a deeply personal way.
