How UWCA Began
The Underwater Creatives Academy evolved from the underwater workshop courses developed by renowned underwater photographer and education Kimber Greenwood. Her workshops, events, and trips ran under her flagship brand, Water Bear Photography for over 5 years before she realized the industry demanded more. Photographers were always looking for new training opportunities, more and more people were looking for ways to get into underwater modeling, and the inherent dangers of the niche were showing up more and more. There was a continual push for a community to grow and with that, a standard to keep people safe and small water based creative businesses thriving. UWCA was created to bring together different areas of the community and standardize the education, giving water professional a uniform environment where they can communicate, learn, and grow with like-minded professionals. As UWCA continues to grow, it will continue to change and adapt to the needs of the industry but always ensuring safety and professionalism remains at the forefront of every new opportunity.
